Welcome! Kirk Gittings Photography serves leading architecture and interior design firms, magazines, corporations and developers throughout New Mexico, the West and across the nation. Working from his studio in New Mexico, Kirk Gittings has been recognized as one of the leading architectural photographers in the region. (above image is of Renzo Piano's Modern Wing at the Art Institute of Chicago (client-The School of the Art Institute of Chicago).
"I care deeply about the landscape and the architecture that inhabits it. Together they have been my photographic passion and vocation for decades." Kirk Gittings
Recognizing that passion, in 2003 the editors of THROUGH THE LENS: INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHERS selected Kirk as one of the top architectural photographers in the U.S. The editors wrote "for many years, IMAGES PUBLISHING has featured the work of the world's finest architectural photographers in its design publications. This book is a celebration of and a tribute to the unsung heroes behind the lens, those geniuses of light and shadow, who can make even the most mundane building sing and dance".
Recognizing his passion and unique vision, in 2005, New Mexico Magazine published a 30 year retrospective book of his architectural photography entitled SHELTER FROM THE STORM: THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF KIRK GITTINGS, which latter became the basis for a retrospective exhibit, by the same name, at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History. In 2012, the State Legislature of New Mexico honored him for his life's work and the University of New Mexico honored him with a distinguished alumni, "ZIA" award. PBS has honored him with two "Colores" programs over the years.
In addition to his commercial photography, he has taught architectural photography in the Fine Art, Architecture and Historic Preservation schools of the University of New Mexico and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago for a combined 33 years.
"Architecture energizes and inspires me. I approach each assignment, large or small, with a fresh sense of visual discovery and excitement. My goal....is to create iconic images of design for my clients that have powerful impact and lasting marketing value." Kirk Gittings
His iconic images of architecture and interior design have been selected for over 180 magazine and book covers. Kirk is available for architectural photography assignments across the country.
