ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Kirk Gittings Photography serves leading architecture and interior design firms, magazines, corporations and developers nationwide. Working from his studio in Albuquerque New Mexico, Kirk Gittings MFA has been recognized as one of the leading architectural photographers in the country. Recognizing that passion, in 2003 the editors of THROUGH THE LENS: INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHERS selected Kirk as one of the top architectural photographers in the U.S. The editors wrote "for many years, IMAGES PUBLISHING has featured the work of the world's finest architectural photographers in its design publications. This book is a celebration of and a tribute to the unsung heroes behind the lens, those geniuses of light and shadow, who can make even the most mundane building sing and dance".
Recognizing his passion and unique vision, in 2005, New Mexico Magazine published a 30 year retrospective book of his architectural photography entitled SHELTER FROM THE STORM: THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF KIRK GITTINGS, which latter became the basis for a retrospective exhibit by the same name at the Albuquerque Museum. That same year the New Mexico State Legislature honored him for his life's work. In addition to his commercial photography, he has taught architectural photography in the Fine Art, Architecture and Historic Preservation schools of the University of New Mexico and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago for a combined 20 years.
